Match report: Roar v Victory

Brisbane Roar has gone down in Tuesday night’s Hyundai A-League clash with Melbourne Victory at Suncorp Stadium.

The visitors netted four second-half goals, with a Kosta Barbarouses hat-trick playing a pivotal role in the Victory’s win.

Goalkeeper Jamie Young said that it was a disappointing performance for the Roar, who couldn’t make the most of their own chances.

“You can’t hide from the scoreline, but we have to look at it objectively – what we did well and what we didn’t,” Young said post-match.

“They were clinical, but we had our chances.”

The Victory struck in the 14th minute when Ola Toivonen headed in a ball off a well-placed cross from Terry Antonis.

The second half belonged to the away side who added four goals with Barbarouses bagging his third late on.

Next up, the Roar hit the road to face the Central Coast Mariners at Central Coast Stadium on Sunday, 20 January before returning home to Suncorp Stadium next Friday.
