Brisbane Roar captain Matt McKay is the sole Hyundai A-League representative in the Qantas Socceroos 18-man squad that will take on Wales in the international friendly fixture at Cardiff City Stadium next Wednesday.
McKay, who has 16 national team caps to his name, is likely to line up alongside the likes of Australian veterans Mark Schwarzer, Tim Cahill, Lucas Neill and Brett Emerton in the first ever clash between the countries at senior men-s international level.
Head Coach Holger Osieck will assemble the players in Wales next Monday, keen to work his squad into shape especially with FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Saudi Arabia, Oman and Thailand also looming on the horizon.
In addition, the squad announcement brings welcome news to former Roar players Luke DeVere, Robbie Kruse and Michael Zullo who have also been selected by Osieck with DeVere the only uncapped member in the group.
