Mileusnic enjoying attacking approach

Brisbane Roar winger, Nikola Mileusnic says his sides new attacking style of football is getting the best out of him after a flying start to the 2023/24 Isuzu UTE A-League season.

The 30-year-old grabbed a goal and an assist in Friday’s 2-2 draw with Western Sydney Wanderers at Suncorp Stadium night, taking his tally to three league goals for the 2023/24 season.

Mileusnic is the club’s highest scorer so far this season alongside Henry Hore with both players having already bettered their goalscoring return from last campaign.

The wide man has also created 17 chances so far which is the fourth most of any player in the competition this season.

Roar sit third on the A-League ladder after six rounds of action having tasted defeat just once, while only Melbourne Victory have bettered their return of 12 goals so far.

Mileusnic, who is now entering his third season in Brisbane orange hailed the impact new Head Coach, Ross Aloisi has had on the side so far.

“Ross (Aloisi) has come in and has implemented his style and I think not just me but all the boys have really bought in and it’s definitely paying off as you can see with the results and the way we play” Mileusnic said.

“For myself it really suits my style and I love playing on the wing, getting behind, crossing, scoring, so yeah really, really enjoying it.”

Next up for Roar is clash on the road against Mileusnic’s former club and another of the competition’s early frontrunners in Adelaide United at Coopers Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Mileusnic is one of four former Reds in the Roar squad alongside Carlo Armiento, Joe Caletti and Taras Gomulka.

The Adelaide connection doesn’t end there with Head Coach, Ross Aloisi having served as United’s inaugural A-League Captain before going on to work as the club’s Assistant Coach alongside Carl Veart for two seasons.

Sunday’s Round 7 clash at Coopers Stadium kicks off at 2pm AEST and will be broadcast live on Paramount+ and 10 Bold.
