Mileusnic: Roar headed in right direction

Brisbane Roar winger, Nikola Mileusnic said his side are full of belief that they’ll bounce back quickly following Saturday’s 2-1 defeat at the hands of Sydney FC.

Mileusnic netted his fourth league goal of the season in Saturday’s Isuzu UTE A-League Round 11 clash at Suncorp Stadium.

The wingers goal which leaves him level with Jay O’Shea atop the Roar’s goalscoring charts this season wasn’t enough as a Fabio Gomes brace saw Sydney take all three points.

The 30-year-old said despite the result there were a number of positives to take from Saturday’s performance.

“We know coming out of last week and coming into this game, they’re going to be a tough opponent again and we really needed to nail down our defence and the way we structured and defended,” Mileusnic said.

“I think by the first few minutes we got on the ball but then I think we nailed it down and then limited their chances which was good but at the end of the day, we obviously didn’t get anything from the game but there are definitely some positives.”

Saturday’s match was the sides first under new Head Coach, Ben Cahn with Mileusnic adding the side were excited by the direction they’re heading in under the new boss.

“It’s been a hard few week’s but everyone’s really sticking together, we have a good group here and the new the new coaches coming in are doing a fantastic job, they’ve only been here for a week, so definitely some positives today,” Mileusnic said.

“We’re definitely looking to go in the right direction and to be fair coming home it’s different than playing away, the fans were amazing today and it’s always good playing in front of such a good home support.”

Next up for Roar is a Unite Round clash against Newcastle Jets at Allianz Stadium on Sunday evening.
