Brisbane Roar is pleased to announce foundation Hyundai A-League player Warren Moon has joined the Club as General Manager of the Brisbane Roar Football Club Academy.
Moon was a member of the Roar’s foundation Hyundai A-League squad in 2005, playing in the Club’s maiden fixture against New Zealand Knights, and moves in to the role on the back of an esteemed coaching career.
“I’m passionate about Queensland football and I’m passionate about Brisbane Roar,” Moon said.
“I was there on Day 1 and it’s an exciting time to be back as part of the Roar, to take the Club forward, make some improvements and take the Academy to another level.
“I’m really excited to get started and I can’t wait to get going.”
Moon previously held the position of Head Coach at NPL Queensland outfit Lions FC, recently leading the club to the 2018 NPL Queensland Premiership & Championship double.
Building on the relationships with local Queensland Clubs & aiding the development of future Hyundai A-League players are two key goals for the Academy’s new General Manager.
“Having strong relationships with local clubs is important and improving those relationships is something I’m determined to do,” Moon continued.
“We want players to aspire to the best and to aspire to play in the Hyundai A-League for Brisbane Roar, but know the door will never be shut to come back to clubland in Queensland as well.”
Brisbane Roar CEO David Pourre says the appointment is a terrific opportunity for both the Club & young Queensland footballers.
“The development of up-and-coming young footballers in Queensland is clearly a passion shared by both Warren & the Club,” Pourre said.
“We are thrilled to have one of the Club’s foundation Hyundai A-League players back involved in the development of the next generation of Brisbane Roar footballers.”
