NPL Queensland action resumes for Young Roar with a Round 10 clash against Gold Coast United at Nudgee Recreation Reserve on Sunday afternoon.
Roar start the weekend in seventh position on the competition ladder and are unbeaten in their last three league matches including a 3-2 win over Olympic in their last outing.
Strikes from Ayom Majok and Quinn MacNicol coupled with an own goal secured the points in a 3-2 victory as Roar picked up their third win of the 2024 NPL season.
MacNicol’s first goal of his sides 2024 NPL Queensland campaign came after the midfielder represented the Joeys in Italy in April, finding the back of the net in matches against Switzerland and Inter Milan.
MacNicol was joined in the Joeys squad by Rhys Williams, who came off the bench in Sunday’s win over Olympic.
Roar return to league action after being eliminated from the Kappa Pro Series with a 3-1 defeat at the hands of Sunshine Coast Wanderers last Wednesday night.
A Ty Cobb strike wasn’t enough as goals from Max Brown, Jeremy Stewart and Jhairah Taylor brought an end to Roar’s Pro Series campaign.
Gold Coast United, who are coached by Grae Piddick sit two points ahead of Roar in fifth position on the NPL ladder.
United who are home to a number of former Young Roar players including, Cai Tipaldo, Zahi Addis and Nicholas Panetta defeated Lions 3-2 in their last league match.
Roar’s U23 side are back in action for the first time in nearly a month when they face Gold Coast United in the day’s second game on Sunday.
Roar trail Lions by three points at the top of the table but have two games in hand on their rivals from Luxury Paints Stadium.
United currently sit tenth on the U23 table with eight points to their name after seven rounds of action.
Sunday’s games at Nudgee Recreation Reserve kick off at 3pm (NPL Men) & 5:30pm (NPL U23) with the NPL Men’s match being live stream on FQTV and the Football Queensland YouTube channel.
