NPL R2 Match Wrap: Moreton City 3-2 Young Roar

Young Roar suffered a last ditch 3-2 NPL Queensland Round 2 defeat at the hands of Moreton City Excelsior in a five goal thriller at Wolter Park on Saturday night.

A Rylan Brownlie brace had Young Roar two goals to the good in Saturday’s Round 2 clash before a late fightback from the home side saw Excelsior snatch the points through goals from Marquez Walters, Lachlan Sayers and Damin Anderson.

Brownlie opened the scoring in the 40th minute when he got in behind the Excelsior defence and slammed a low driven finish into the bottom corner.

A minute later Excelsior had levelled the scores through Sayers, who sent a looping first time finish into the top corner from the top of the box.

Anderson sealed the come from behind victory in the 96th minute with a first time lofted effort of his own that sailed into the back of the net to secure all three points for the home side.

Next up for Young Roar is clash against Redlands United at Meakin Park on Saturday, March 9.
