Update: Friday’s NPL Queensland Round 3 clash between Young Roar and Sunshine Coast Wanderers at Ballinger Park has been postponed.
Young Roar go in search of a third straight NPL Queensland victory when they make the trip up the Bruce Highway to face Sunshine Coast Wanderers at Ballinger Park on Friday night.
Back-to-back win over Wynnum Wolves and St George Willawong have seen Karl Dodd’s side move to within three points of the competition’s top four in recent weeks.
A Rhys Williams double in his first game back since returning from Joeys duty at the AFC U17 Asian Cup sealed a 2-0 victory over Wynnum before an Ivan Ozzi brace along with a David Russell goal saw Roar defeat St George in 3-0 in their most recent outing.
Ozzi’s two goals off the bench earned him a spot in the NPL Queensland Team of the Week alongside goalkeeper, Sam Flannery who’s kept clean sheets in consecutive games.
Sunshine Coast Wanderers who are coached by former Roar interim boss, Nick Green currently sit eleventh on the league table with four points from five games this season.
The Wanderers who’s side includes former Young Roar duo Oliver Duncan and Kade McDougall have made Ballinger Park a tough away day for visiting sides taking a 2-0 win over defending Premiers, Gold Coast Knights and a 1-1 draw against reigning Champions, Lions in their last two home games.
Friday’s match at Ballinger Park kicks off at 7:30pm and will be live streamed on FQTV and the Football Queensland YouTube channel.
