Young Roar are finally set to return to NPL Queensland action with a Round 7 clash against Eastern Suburbs at Heath Park on Saturday night.
After a very wet few weeks that has seen four of Roar’s last five scheduled matches postponed as a result of wet weather Karl Dodd’s side resume league action with a clash against newly promoted Easts.
Roar suffered a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Moreton City Excelsior in their most recent match, where despite a taking the lead through a Pearson Kasawaya goal a second half Kenshin Takagishi brace saw the visitors come away victorious.
Easts, who are coached by Redha Alrikabi currently sit eighth on the league table and played out a 1-1 draw with Peninsula Power in their last league outing.
There will be some familiar faces in action at Heath Park with former Roar A-League trio Scott Neville, Josh Brindell-South and Matt Ridenton all signing on at Easts for the 2025 NPL Queensland season.
Roar will be without Quinn MacNicol, Charlie Parkin and Rhys Williams for Saturday’s match with the trio currently representing Australia at the AFC U17 Asian Cup in Saudi Arabia.
Saturday’s match marks the start of a busy week for Young Roar with the side making the trip down the M1 to face Gold Coast Knights in Kappa Pro Series action on Wednesday night.
Karl Dodd’s side sit level at the top of Group D on seven points after four rounds of action, with a point in their final group game enough to seal Roar’s passage into the Quarter Finals for the first time.
Saturday’s NPL Queensland Round 7 clash against Easts kicks off at 7pm at Heath Park and will be live streamed on FQTV and the Football Queensland YouTube channel.
