NPL R7 Preview: Eastern Suburbs vs Young Roar

Young Roar are in midweek NPL Queensland action against Eastern Suburbs at Heath Park on Wednesday night.

Karl Dodd’s side look to make it three matches unbeaten after defeating Sunshine Coast Wanderers 2-0 and drawing 1-1 with Moreton City Excelsior in their last two outings.

At the weekend David Russell netted his third goal of the season with a finish at the near post in the 13th minute before City, who sit in second position on the league table levelled the scores through a Keitatsu Kojima strike from outside the area on the stroke of half time.

      Young Roar come into Wednesday’s match sitting ninth on the NPL Queensland standings, three points shy of sixth placed Eastern Suburbs.

      Easts, who are coached by Redha Alrikabi look to bounce back after suffering a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Peninsula Power at the weekend.

      There are a few familiar faces for Roar fans amongst the Easts squad, with Scott Neville, Matt Ridenton and Josh Brindell-South all calling Heath Park home.

      Wednesday’s match continues a busy week for Young Roar, who host Lions in their first ever Kappa Pro Series Semi Final at Meakin Park on Sunday.

      Wednesday’s NPL Queensland Round 7 action a Heath Park kicks off at 7:30pm and will be live streamed on FQTV & the Football Queensland YouTube channel.
