Young Roar return to NPL Queensland action with a trip to face Wynnum Wolves at Carmichael Park on Sunday afternoon.
Following another wet few days in South East Queensland Sunday’s Round 8 clash has been moved to Carmichael Park with kick off now scheduled for 4pm.
Roar come into Sunday’s match after securing a spot in the Kappa Pro Series Quarter Finals for the first time with a 1-1 draw against Gold Coast Knights in their last outing.
A second half Luke Nieuwenhof header cancelled out Bradden Inman’s opener to secure second spot in Group D for Karl Dodd’s side and a match up in the last eight against Gold Coast United.
Sunday’s match marks a long awaited return to league action for Roar after a very wet few weeks that has seen five of Roar’s last six scheduled matches postponed as a result of wet weather.
Roar’s last league outing was in late March where they suffered a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Moreton City Excelsior.
Despite a taking the lead through a Pearson Kasawaya goal a second half Kenshin Takagishi brace saw the visitors come away victorious.
Wynnum, who are coached by Graham Fyfe come in after a much shorter turnaround, having beaten Olympic 2-1 thanks to goals from Luke Francis and Zach Maltby at Goodwin Park on Wednesday night.
The Wolves who are home to former Roar winger, Jez Lofthouse along with a number of Young Roar products including, Josip Milicevic, Nathan Geyer, Nathan Nguyen and Eremugo Debele currently sit eighth on the NPL Queensland ladder.
Sunday’s match at Carmichael Park kicks off at 4pm and will be live streamed on FQTV and the Football Queensland YouTube channel.
