Brisbane Roar played their first pre-season hit out against FQPL 1 outfit Caboolture Sports FC at Moreton Bay Central Sports Complex on Tuesday night.
Trialist Justin Vidic opened the scoring, with goals from Michael Ruhs and Quinn MacNicol to follow in the first half.
The second half saw MacNicol score two more goals and secure a hat-trick, with Ruhs scoring another three goals to finish with four to his name.
Youth Roar player Jackson O’Reilly scored a header to wrap up the night with a 9-0 win in Caboolture.
Brisbane Roar wishes to extend a massive thank you to Caboolture Sports FC for hosting this great community event and for their hospitality throughout the night.
“I thought it was very good. We’ve only been training now a week-and-a-half, and I really liked the intensity that the boys came out with,” Head Coach, Michael Valkanis said.
“I’m so happy that we were seeing things we’ve worked on already and even what we did defensively to improve some weaknesses we found from last season, I think are very good signs for where we are heading.
“I’m so grateful to Caboolture for having us and for giving us the opportunity to play but also to meet the kids, all the juniors and the supporters.
“We had a great turn-out and it’s so important for the players to feel who they are playing for, and I think they felt that today.”
