Our Roar Women’s squad will have a note of American flavour once again for the upcoming Westfield W-League season with two Orlando Pride stars signing on the dotted line for the Season 11.
Versatile fullback Carson Pickett will return on loan to Brisbane for a second Westfield W-League season in Orange following a terrific debut season on the left side of the Roar’s defence last campaign.
She will be joined by Orlando Pride teammate & FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup winner Chioma Ubogagu for her first season Down Under.
The 26-year-old attacker, netted eight goals in two NWSL seasons at the Pride & has experience playing at the highest level across the globe after making her professional debut with English outfit Arsenal in 2015.
Pickett, 25, was an integral member of the Roar’s run to the Premiership in Season 10 and Head Coach Mel Andreatta believes she will be key to more success in the coming months.
“We’re delighted to welcome back Carson to our Roar Women family, and, it’s fantastic news that ‘Chi’ will join us for Season 11 also,” Andreatta said.
“Both players are fantastic footballers in their own right and I know they will suit our up-tempo attacking style of play.
“It’s been an exciting few days and the group can’t wait to hit the ground running in Round 1 against Perth Glory at our fortress, Suncorp Stadium.”
The duo join inspirational captain Clare Polkinghorne, dual-sport star Jenna McCormick & six local heroes to commit to BRFC for season 2018/19.
