Queensland talent Amali Kinsella signs on as injury replacement

Brisbane Roar are excited to announce that FQ Academy QAS defender Amali Kinsella has signed a short-term injury replacement contract with the club.

Born and raised on the Sunshine Coast, Kinsella grew up playing at Caboolture FC in an all-boys’ side, coached by her father. At age 16, Kinsella moved to Football Queensland’s elite women’s youth program (FQ Academy QAS) where Kinsella continued to excel.

The 19-year-old was awarded the Sue Monteath Award, as the 2024 FQ QAS Player of the Year as well as the Under 18 Players’ Player Award, following a standout season that saw her establish herself as a regular Brisbane Roar women’s train-on player.

The Queenslander starred for Brisbane Roar in a pre-season match against the Queensland Women’s State Team, netting a second-half brace.

Kinsella stated her excitement to begin this new chapter with the club.

“Playing with the boys until I was 16 taught me so much about myself as a player and what I was capable of,” Kinsella said.

“I found out that I was in less than 24 hours ago so there has been lots of emotions,” she added.

“It has been a goal of mine to play for Brisbane Roar since I was a little girl, so I am so grateful for Alex giving me this opportunity and I look forward to learning more and growing as a footballer.”

Kinsella will wear the no.5 jersey and is available for selection for Sunday’s Round 17 clash against Sydney FC.
