Queenslander Archie Mitchell earns long-term Brisbane Roar deal

Brisbane Roar is pleased to announce the signing of Roar ‘B’ team product Archie Mitchell on a four-year scholarship contract ahead of the 2026/27 Isuzu UTE A-League season.

The 17-year-old left-back regularly features for Roar in the NPL QLD competition, and most recently earned selection in the CommBank Joeys for the AFC U17 Asian Cup in Saudi Arabia in April.

Mitchell, who will be looking to make an impact in the upcoming campaign, said: “Signing my first professional contract with Brisbane Roar is a huge milestone in my career, growing up in Brisbane and coming through the youth teams makes me incredibly grateful for this opportunity.

“I’ve always known what this club means to the city and its supporters, so wearing the Roar badge is something I’ll never take for granted.

“My goal for this season is to do everything I can to help the team win games and bring trophies back to Brisbane, where they belong.”

Brisbane Roar Sporting Director, James Gow said: “We are very happy that Archie has committed to the club on a long-term contract.

“A core piece of our strategy is to have a strong nucleus of local players, and Archie represents the great work that has been done in the B-Team and through our relationship with local clubs and Football Queensland.

“Archie is a left-back with a very interesting skillset and we believe that together we can develop him into a strong player for the club.”
