Hayley Raso got one-up on one of her BRFC teammates as the Portland Thorns recorded a 4-0 victory over Katrina Gorry’s Utah Royals on the weekend.

Both Raso and Gorry started for their respective NWSL sides in Saturday’s contest which the Thorns led for the majority of following a second-minute opener, before the lead ballooned to 3-0 before the break.

The result extends the Thorns’ unbeaten streak to five matches and saw them leapfrog the Royals into fifth place – six points clear of their next opponents, Clare Polkinghorne’s Houston Dash.

The Dash took a surprise lead against the high-flying Seattle Reign in Polkinghorne’s third game for the Club, before Seattle appropriately reigned in the deficit, hitting the lead in the 56th minute before adding a third in the dying stages to run out 3-1 victors.

Polkinghorne and Raso will meet in Portland on Monday (Australian time) while Gorry next faces the Reign in Seattle on Thursday (Australian time).

In Norway, Tameka Butt’s Klepp IL aren’t back in action until early August, as are Mackenzie Arnold’s Arna-Bjørnar, however the reigning Westfield W-League Goalkeeper of the Year’s side had one final clash before a brief break on Thursday night.

Arna-Bjørnar faced Avaldsnes for the third time in as many weeks, just a fortnight after knocking them out of the Norwegian Women’s Cup.

Two goals either side of a strike for the visitors ensured Arnold’s side head into the break in form with a 4-1 victory.
