Brisbane Roar has dominated this season’s PFA Hyundai A-League team of the Year.
Postecoglou-s remarkable achievement of turning the club-s on-field fortunes around this season were reflected in his overwhelming choice as coach of the side.
This season the Brisbane Roar mentor has overseen a side which has claimed the premiership, recorded a 25-game unbeaten run and lost only once during the regular season.
Brisbane and Socceroos midfielder Matt McKay-s outstanding season was recognised with the midfield dynamo selected to lead the team as captain.
McKay is joined in the starting XI by Michael Theoklitos, Ivan Franjic, Matt Smith, Luke DeVere (now in Korea), Thomas Broich and Kosta Barbarouses. Costa Rican striker Jean Carlos Solorzano was selected among the substitutes.
The selections are particularly important as they are made by Hyundai A-League players.
PFA Chief Executive Brendan Schwab congratulated Postecoglou on an outstanding season, in which his coaching won the votes of an incredible 71% of A-League players.
āBrisbane has been the outstanding footballing side in what has, without doubt, been the highest quality A-League season to date.
āAnge has quickly confirmed his outstanding coaching capability, having already led another stylish side – South Melbourne – to two championships in the old National Soccer League,ā Schwab added.
Postecoglou is the third coach to be elected as coach of the PFA A-League Team of the Season, after Aurelio Vidmar (Adelaide United, 2008/09) and Vitezslav Lavicka (Sydney FC, 2009/10).
McKay follows former Brisbane captain Craig Moore (2008/09) and Kevin Muscat (2009/10) in being voted by his peers to captain the players- team.
