Rahmat Akbari maintained his scoring form and Luke Ivanovic also found the net as Brisbane Roar’s pre-season came to a close with a 3-2 defeat to the NPL All-Stars at Perry Park on Saturday.

On a vibrant night for men’s and women’s football, the first instalment of an entertaining double-header ended in the representative side’s favour thanks in part to goals from BRFC Academy graduates Eli Adams and Keegan Jelacic.

Moreton Bay United’s Ryo Ono found the winning goal after the break, finishing from a narrow angle in the 68th minute.

With plenty of desire on display from both squads, it was another competitive and high-tempo hit-out on the back of six straight wins leading into the team’s Round 1 journey south to face Melbourne City this coming Friday, 19 November.

All eyes now turn to that AAMI Park clash, which kicks off at 6:45pm QLD time.

GOALS

Brisbane Roar – Ivanovic 5′ – 1-0

Matti Steinmann sets Rahmat Akbari free down the right wing. He squares the ball for Ivanovic who easily finishes at close range.

Brisbane Roar – Akbari 27′ – 2-0

Ivanovic turns provider, this time putting Akbari in on goal. The in-form midfielder does his bit, sliding the ball under the keeper from the edge of the area.

NPL All-Stars – Keegan Jelacic 30′ – 2-1

Alex Fiechtner attacks the left hand side of the penalty area and draws a penalty which Jelacic despatches inside the right hand post.

NPL All-Stars – Eli Adams 44′ – 2-2

A mix-up at the back gifts Adams a simple finish which he tucks away.

NPL All-Stars – Ryo Ono 68′ – 2-3

Hayden McHenery plays a classy square ball, Scott Neville blocks the first attempt but the ball falls to Ryo Ono who puts the All-Stars in front.
