Brisbane Roar are pleased to confirm the appointment of Richard Greer as the club’s NPL Queensland Men’s Head Coach ahead of the 2024 season.

Greer will work alongside Youth Technical Director, Ben Cahn to provide a platform for Queensland’s best young talent to make the step up into professional football.

The 34-year-old arrives with extensive experience in the local game having spent time at Olympic FC, Logan Lightning, Moreton Bay United and Redlands United.

Greer also served as an Assistant Coach at Filipino outfit, Kaya FC for their 2022 AFC Champions League campaign alongside current Roar A-League Men’s Assistant Coach, Graham Harvey.

In his playing days Greer represented Australia at youth level and played professionally for Gold Coast United and Kaya FC before making the move into coaching.

“I feel honoured and excited to be given the opportunity as Brisbane Roar’s NPL Head Coach, I am excited to help develop the state’s best young players on and off the field,” Greer said.

“Queensland has always had many talented players go on to have successful careers, therefore I am determined to provide an environment that allows many more to follow in these footsteps.

“I am very grateful to Kaz (Patafta) and Zac (Anderson) for the opportunity and look forward to helping them deliver their vision for the football club.”

Brisbane Roar COO, Zac Anderson said the club were delighted to have secured Greer’s services for the season ahead.

“Richie is both the right person and professional to drive our youth program forward alongside Ben Cahn,” said Zac Anderson.

“Our club has historically provided Queensland talent a clear pathway, which we have made our mission to bring back.

“Our youth program will be a high performing environment providing our youth players the right environment to develop and become the best versions of themselves.”
