Brisbane Roar and Newcastle Jets will commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Anzac landing at Gallipoli in tonight’s Hyundai A-League Round 26 fixture at Suncorp Stadium.
There will be a pre-match ceremony with players and match officials leading a minute’s silence and playing of national anthem, following the Ode, read by Wandering Warriors chief executive Audie Moldre, and playing The Last Post.
The Australian flag will be unveiled by members of the 7th Combat Service Support Battalion from the Gallipoli Barracks in Enoggera, while the New Zealand flag will be carried out by members of the New Zealand armed forces.
Wandering Warriors, an initiative of the Australian SAS Association, will be collecting donations throughout the Suncorp Stadium area with a marquee also set up on the South Plaza, raising funds for the support and care of veterans and their families.
Tickets for tonight’s match at Suncorp Stadium – the Roar’s final home fixture of the season – are available via Ticketek.
