Brisbane Roar Men have strengthened their squad for the run home, securing the signature of Norwegian central defender, Marius Lode on loan for the remainder of the Isuzu UTE A-League 2025/26 season from Swedish side, BK Häcken.
A tough, experienced centre-back with a strong European pedigree, Lode arrives in Brisbane ready to make an immediate impact as Roar push towards a strong finish to the campaign.
Lode began his professional career with Bryne FK, where he developed a reputation as a composed and reliable defender before earning a move to Norweigian giants, FK Bodø/Glimt. It was at Bodø/Glimt that Lode enjoyed the most successful period of his career.
During his time with Bodø/Glimt, Lode was part of Eliteserien Premiership-winning squads in 2020, 2021 and 2023, as well as Norwegian Cup triumphs in 2020, 2021 and 2023, playing a key role in the club’s historic rise domestically and in Europe before transferring to BK Häcken in the Swedish first division where he has made more than 50 appearances for the club.
Lode spent a short time at Schalke 04 in the German Bundesliga in 2022.
On the European stage, the 32-year-old boasts UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League and the UEFA Europa Conference League. He has also earned two senior caps with the Norway national team.
Known for his physicality, composure on the ball and leadership, Lode’s experience in title-winning environments and European football brings added quality and a winning mentality that Roar fans can look forward to seeing.
Speaking on signing with the Roar, Lode said, “I’m really excited to join Brisbane Roar and experience a new competition.
“I’ve played in different leagues and environments, and I want to bring that experience here. I’m ready to work hard for the team and give the supporters something to be proud of.”
Head coach Michael Valkanis said,“Marius joins us as a strong, calm in possession and tactically intelligent defender.
“His experience across European competition will add leadership and stability to our group for the remainder of the season and we look forward to welcoming him here to the club.”
Lode will join the squad immediately as Brisbane Roar Men continue their Isuzu UTE A-League campaign against Melbourne Victory at AAMI Park this Saturday.
