The Brisbane Roar have come away with a 1-0 win against the Western Sydney Wanderers on Saturday afternoon at AJ Kelly Park.
The Roar’s midfield was bolstered by the return of Katrina Gorry to the starting XI for the first time this season while Teagan Thompson made her Liberty A-League debut.
The home side showed their dominance early as Gorry and Larissa Crummer linked up to put pressure on the Wanderers defence.
It would prevail as a through ball found Crummer with the shot blocked by the Wanderers before Hollie Palmer scored on the follow up to give Roar the lead.
While the Roar would continue to dominate, the Wanderers would push the home side for an equaliser in the last 10 minutes of the match.
Head coach Garrath McPherson said it was nice to get the win.
“It was nice to bounce back after the last two weeks on the road,” he said.
“The last two weeks for us were good to see where we are and we learnt a lot.
“I’m just happy we kept another clean sheet and scored a goal, the defensive display was really good,” McPherson added.
The Roar will be back on the road next week as they face the Newcastle Jets on Friday 23 December.
