Brisbane Roar were victorious against Western United in their pre-season match on Saturday afternoon at Meakin Park winning 3-1 in the first friendly Aloisi derby.
Ross Aloisi’s side were the ones to open the scoring after Alex Parsons went down in the box, which saw Jay O’Shea step up for the penalty and confidently convert the first goal.
Western United responded in the 44th minute after Max Bisetto received a nice through ball and calmly fired one home to equalise 1-1 before the break.
Roar returned to the field with urgency, with Nikola Mileusnic breaking through the defence and cutting back to Henry Hore. Hore made his way around the keeper and found the back of the net for a great finish.
Brisbane sealed a 3-1 victory with a penalty converted by Carlo Armiento after a United handball in the 77th minute.
Head Coach Ross Aloisi was unfazed about coming up against his brother John and was more focused on his team’s performance and how they are progressing.
“I was more concerned about how the team was going to perform after two heavy training weeks and playing the Australia Cup last week as well. That’s the brand of football we want to play and have them be proud of the football we are playing a high-pressing game, but the reward outweighs that risk,” he said.
Fans got to see Roar NPL product Rylan Brownlie get some minutes with the senior team and display a great performance.
“Watching the young boys come on and perform puts a smile on my face,” Aloisi said.
Brisbane now gearing up for their Australia quarter-final clash against Western Sydney Wanderers on Saturday 16 September. KO is at 4 pm at Perry Park.
