Brisbane Roar have come from behind for a 1-1 draw against the Western Sydney Wanderers at Kayo Stadium.
The draw sees the Roar continue their undefeated streak in the Isuzu UTE A-League, now six games unbeaten. It also sees the side jump into the top six – with other match results still to come in Round 9.
It was a shaky start for the Roar as the Wanderers, who are second on the ladder, went ahead early through Oliver Bozanic.
The away side almost doubled their lead late in the first half but were denied after Brandon Borello was flagged by the sideline referee for being offside.
The second half saw the Roar take it to the Wanderers with winger Carlo Armiento creating a handful of chances through his corners into the box.
With the crowd behind the men in orange, urging their side to level the game, Armiento stood up with perhaps the goal of the season.
A curving shot from the 23-year-old sent the crowd into a roar, bringing the sides level.
And it would stay that way despite attempts from both teams to find the winner as the game went into the dying minutes.
Brisbane Roar head coach Warren Moon said his side had a slow start to the match but were able to turn that around at halftime.
“We were a bit sluggish in the first half and were disappointed with how we performed as a whole,” he added.
“They didn’t do anything that surprised us, they just competed harder and a bit more aggressive than us.
“We showed a great response in the second half, made some changes and the application was better.
“I think we will be a bit disappointed we didn’t go on to win it,” Moon added.
The Roar will be on the road for their next three matches with Western United first up on Friday 30 December.
