Brisbane Roar will be hungry for three points to bounce back to winning ways as they face reigning Champions Central Coast Mariners at Polytec Stadium on New Year’s Eve.
After a disappointing 3-0 loss away to Newcastle Jets, Alex Smith’s side will have their sights set on a big win on the road before returning home for a double header against Wellington Phoenix at home on Saturday.
WHAT WAS SAID
“They’ve got some quality in their team,” Smith said.
“Coming off a pretty crazy game last weekend where they gave up three in the last five minutes in stoppage time to draw.
“They’ll be hungry to make up for that mistake so we have to be ready. Just like every team we play in this league, the ladder doesn’t mean too much.
“We have to take every opponent as they come and make sure you show up every game otherwise you’ll get punished.”
