Brisbane Roar will meet Lions FC in a blockbuster FFA Cup Round of 16 tie, Thursday’s live draw confirmed.
The Roar came first out of the pot and Lions followed, setting up a massive match for the Queensland football community.
It’s set to be the second FFA Cup game in succession that Warren Moon has coached against a former club, having guided the Roar to a 3-0 victory over Peninsula Power in the Round of 32.
New signings Matti Steinmann, Luke Ivanovic and Juan Lescano were the scorers for Brisbane that night.
Lions, meanwhile, beat Darwin-based Casuarina FC 6-0 to reach the next round.
With the clubs now drawn together, excitement will begin to build as the likes of Josh Brindell-South, Jesse Daley and Henry Hore prepare to face their old side.
As a Member Federation club, Darren Sime’s men are the designated home team.
Fixture details including date and venue will be confirmed in the coming weeks.
