Brisbane Roar have fallen to a 2-1 loss over Perth Glory at HBF Park in their final match of the 2025/26 season.
The contest kicked off in the West with both side’s starting cautiously until the 8th minute when Roar defender, Marius Lode was deemed to have handled the ball in the box, handing the Glory the opening goal of the match after Gabriel Popovic converted from the penalty spot.
Just over twenty minutes later the Glory were handed another spot kick after a Youstin Salas foul in the area. The penalty however was rocketed against the cross bar by Nick Pennington much to the delight of Michael Valkanis’ men.
Minutes later, Roar midfielder Jay O’Shea looked to have been fouled in the Glory penalty area however VAR frustratingly deemed it not to have been. The remaining minutes of the half yielded little for both sides, leaving Glory ahead as both teams headed to the break.
The second half started with neither testing their opposition until Dimitri Valkanis lept to head home from close range in the 66th minute to draw the Roar level much to the delight of the youngster.
Ten minutes later Perth found their second of the evening via a long range Sebastian Despotovski effort. From here, Roar pushed for an equaliser in the closing stages of the match however, weren’t able to do so resulting in Perth taking all three points.
