Brisbane Roar will look to continue their Australia Cup run against the Western Sydney Wanderers in the Quarter Finals this Saturday at Perry Park.
Fans will pile into Perry Park tomorrow with hopes to see new signing Florin Berenguer in action for the first time in a competitive match.
Western Sydney will shape up to be a tough opponent after a series of convincing wins in their Cup run, winning 6-1 against Floreat Athena and downing fellow A-League side Adelaide United 5-1.
The last match up between these two teams ended in a 1-1 draw in the Isuzu UTE A-League 2022/23 season, with Oliver Bozanic and Carlo Armiento scoring the only two goals of the match.
Brisbane Roar also faced the Wanderers in the Australia Cup last season, with the Roar coming out on top with a 3-1 victory after a second half comeback in the playoffs to get into the Round of 32.
The Roar look to match their Australia Cup run from last season by getting past the Wanderers, and Head Coach Ross Aloisi will look to continue his good start to his tenure, especially after winning the first ‘Aloisi Derby’ against Western United in a friendly match.
Head Coach Ross Aloisi anticipates a good test from the Wanderers, but his focus is on his squad and how they are improving their playing style each day.
“What we’ve been focusing is what we’re doing throughout the pre-season and our playing style and improving that every day. Obviously, we are playing against a very good side in Western Sydney Wanderers,” Aloisi said.
“It’s going to be a good test but more importantly it’s about how we keep progressing through this Australia Cup competition in our playing style and preparing ourselves for the season,” he added.
