Brisbane Roar is pleased to announce the signing of South Korean international Nam Tae-hee ahead of the 2026/27 Isuzu UTE A-League Men’s season.
The attacking midfielder joins the club with 53 caps and 7 goals for South Korea and a career spanning across France, Qatar, Japan and the K League-1. He won a bronze medal with South Korea at the London 2012 Olympic Games.
The experienced South Korean international began his professional career with Valenciennes, where Nam became the youngest Asian player to appear in France’s Ligue 1. He went on to make more than 270 appearances for Qatari powerhouse Al-Duhail across two spells, scoring 122 goals and winning multiple Qatar Stars League titles. In 2017 he was named Qatar’s Player of the Year.
In 2019 Nam crossed Doha to join Al-Sadd, where he spent two seasons playing under Barcelona legend Xavi Hernandez. He was part of the side that won the 2020/21 Qatar Stars League title unbeaten, adding the Emir of Qatar Cup and further domestic silverware during his time at the club.
Nam then moved to Japan with Yokohama F. Marinos, helping the club reach the 2023/24 AFC Champions League Final. Nam joins the Roar from K League-1 side Jeju SK where he has made more than 60 apperances over the past two years. In total, Nam has lifted silverware on 22 occasions.
Australian fans will remember Nam from the 2015 AFC Asian Cup, where he started the final against the Socceroos in Sydney. He also returned in November 2018 and played at Suncorp Stadium in South Korea’s 1-1 draw with Australia, before scoring three days later in a 4-0 win over Uzbekistan at the Queensland Sport and Athletics Centre. His move to the Roar brings him back to a city he has already played in twice.
Brisbane Roar Sporting Director James Gow said Nam’s quality and experience would lift the entire squad.
“Nam is a proven winner, and an experienced player who has performed in Europe and at the highest level in Asia for more than a decade.
“He sees the game quickly, he creates chances, and he knows what it takes to win titles. Just as importantly, he is a professional our young players will learn from every single day.”
Nam said he was excited to begin a new chapter in Queensland.
“I am very happy to be joining Brisbane Roar,” Nam said.
“I understand that this is a club hungry to be successful once again, so I am excited to meet my new teammates, the wonderful fans and get straight to work.
Nam will depart Asia once all visa requirements are completed, and commence training with Roar upon landing in Brisbane. Nam will don the number 10 jersey for the men in orange.
