Roar ready for rampant Reds

Having not beaten Adelaide United at Suncorp Stadium since the famous 7-1 victory back in October 2011, Brisbane Roar will be looking to smash the record this Sunday when they host the Reds in round 22 of the Hyundai A-League 2013/14 campaign.

Having not beaten Adelaide United at Suncorp Stadium since the famous 7-1 victory back in October 2011, Brisbane Roar will be looking to smash the record this Sunday when they host the Reds in round 22 of the Hyundai A-League 2013/14 campaign.

Roar winger Dimitri Petratos, who only joined the club in the most recent off-season and wasn-t a part of that emphatic win, said the confidence from last Friday-s 3-1 defeat of Perth Glory would carry into this weekend.

“We got the win which was great and a lot of boys got their confidence back,” Petratos said.

“We got three goals, three different players scored, and the team is working hard.”

League leaders Brisbane has been renowned for their attacking, possession-based style of football in recent years and Adelaide has shown under new coach Josep Gombau that they can match it with the two-time Hyundai A-League Champions in terms of flair and goal-scoring ability.

If recent form is anything to go by, spectators at Suncorp Stadium can expect to see the midfield battle playing a crucial role in the end result with excitement machines Thomas Broich of the Roar and Adelaide-s Fabio Ferreira leading the line.

The German playmaker has assisted seven of his side-s 36 goals this season and scored 3 while Ferreira, formerly of Chelsea FC, has assisted five and found the back of the net seven times, including a goal in the Reds- 5-1 thrashing of Wellington Phoenix last time out.

“It will be a tough game,” Petratos said.

“It will be back and forward so we have to make sure we stay strong in defence.”

Socceroos Matt McKay and Ivan Franjic will be back in Brisbane following Australia-s 4-3 loss to Ecuador in mid-week international friendly and will be assessed by coaching staff before a decision on their involvement on Sunday is made.
