Brisbane Roar has signed exciting young attacker Dylan Wenzel-Halls for the upcoming Hyundai A-League season.
The lethal Brisbane-based striker joins the Roar from Western Pride in the National Premier Leagues Queensland competition.
Wenzel-Halls was on the radar of a number of Hyundai A-League Clubs following a record-breaking start to the NPL QLD 2018 season.
The 20-year-old attacker has taken his game to the next level this campaign and is no stranger to Brisbane Roar Football Club being a former member of the Young Roar and National Youth League sides.
Roar’s new recruit said he’s over the moon to be given a chance to shine on the big stage.
“Words can’t describe how happy I am to be back at arguably the most successful Club in Australia. To play for my hometown team is an outstanding opportunity,” Wenzel-Halls said following today’s announcement.
“My focus at NPL level has been to improve my game, influence football matches and perform consistently in the hope I’d be given another chance.
“I can’t wait to play in front of our home fans, do my best for BRFC and make the most of this opportunity. I want to repay the faith John Aloisi and the Football Club have shown in me.
“Finally, I’d like to thank my family for the support they have given me along with Western Pride and Graham Harvey.”
Wenzel-Halls’ season tally of 23 goals is already a Western Pride NPL QLD record and has come from just 11 matches, netting an incredible seven goals in a single match back in March.
He is the second attacker to have signed on in John Aloisi’s squad for season 2018/19 following the acquisition of Socceroo Adam Taggart earlier this week.
“We’re extremely pleased to secure the services of one of Queensland’s most exciting football talents,” Head Coach John Aloisi said.
“Well done to Dylan for consistently performing at a high standard during the past two seasons at NPL level for Western Pride.
“His performances have not gone unnoticed and on behalf of everyone at the Club, I’d like to welcome Dylan to our Hyundai A-League squad for season 2018/19.”
Wenzel-Halls will join his BRFC teammates for pre-season training in early June 2018.
