Roar strengthen Queensland core with Henry Hore

Brisbane Roar has sealed the addition of another exciting Queenslander with attacker Henry Hore signing on ahead of the new A-League season.

Hore, 22, reunites with Head Coach Warren Moon after the pair enjoyed NPL Queensland success together at Lions FC.

The goalscoring forward had a spell with the Brisbane Roar Youth side as a teenager before moving on to Perth Glory, where he was named Player of the Year for the club’s Y-League team in 2019.

“I was absolutely buzzing when I got the call to come back to my hometown club,” said Hore, who spent time with South Melbourne earlier this year.

“It’s worked out perfectly. It was a good experience in Melbourne, a battle every week, but I’m happy to be back. I’ve always been striving to get to the A-League level.

“The transition has been very easy because I know most of the boys and they’ve been very welcoming.”

Hore, who grew up on the Sunshine Coast, said he was looking forward to achieving more success under Moon.

“I was with him at Lions and had a really good experience,” the QAS product said.

“We won a lot of trophies. Hopefully that can transfer to Brisbane Roar. As a group we’ll have to work hard every day, believe in each other and keep striving, keep pushing.

“It means a bit more if you’re a Queenslander and there’s a few of us here now which is good.”

Moon said he was excited about what Hore would bring to the squad as a player and person.

“I know Henry’s qualities and how hard he’s worked for this opportunity,” the Head Coach said.

“He’s quick, he’s energetic and he can play across the front three. He also understands what this team and club is about and he’s someone who wants to get better every day.

“As a Queenslander, Henry has that strong motivation to do well and we’re looking forward to seeing him develop within an A-League environment.”

Hore becomes the second young local to join the Roar’s A-League squad in as many days following the signing of Jez Lofthouse on Monday.
