Roar to meet NPL All Stars in pre-season double header

Brisbane Roar’s A-Leagues sides will face the NPL Queensland All Stars for the second year running in a pre-season double header next month.

The back-to-back matches have been confirmed for Saturday, 13 November at Perry Park as a conclusion to Football Queensland’s (FQ) three-week Kappa Festival of Football.

Warren Moon’s men will be rounding out their pre-season schedule a week before the Round 1 trip to Melbourne City, while for Garrath McPherson’s exciting young team it’s set to be an important step towards their 4 December opener against Perth Glory.

Roar CEO David Pourre said: “This is a good opportunity to showcase some of the best women’s and men’s talent in Queensland, especially those inside and outside of our very talented A-Leagues Women’s and Men’s squad.

“It’s great to see Football Queensland supporting and collaborating with Brisbane Roar, which gives opportunities for young Queensland women to play at an elite level whilst strengthening our men’s pathways to continue to identify local youth talent that one day will hopefully represent Queensland’s only A-Leagues club.”

McPherson said: “It is really exciting to get our first game together against the best players from Queensland’s NPL Women’s competition.

“We have already begun preparation for the coming season and this game against the All Stars will provide the players with an opportunity to gain further on-field understanding with their team-mates.

“This game and those that follow also give us as a coaching staff the chance to further explore where each of our players’ strengths can be most effective.”

Tickets for the matches are now on sale, starting from $10 for children (12 and under), $20 for adults and $50 for a family pass (2 x children, 2 x adults).
