Roar tournament celebrates cultural diversity

Team nominations are now open for a new seven-a-side football tournament that will celebrate the diverse cultures within Australia.

The 2016 Brisbane Roar Harmony Day Community Shield is about community participation, inclusiveness and respect.

The tournament is open to all men’s and women’s players aged 15 and older.

It is being run in partnership with the Brisbane Roar Community Ambassador Program, Rochedale Rovers FC, multicultural organisation mda, awardsandtrophies.com.au and Logan City Council.

Matches will be played at Rochedale Rovers FC’s home ground, Underwood Park, Rochedale, on the weekend of February 27-28.

The winner of the tournament will be presented with the 2016 Brisbane Roar Harmony Day Community Shield at Brisbane Roar’s Hyundai A-League Harmony Day Round home match against Sydney FC at Suncorp Stadium on Saturday, March 26 (6.30pm kick off).
