Brisbane Roar are happy to officially announce the permanent signing of Matthew Dench for the upcoming Isuzu UTE A-League Men 25/26 season.
The 21-year-old moves up north to Brisbane from NPL Victoria side Oakleigh Cannons, where he made 26 appearances, serving as a crucial figure in their campaign, finishing fourth.
Dench also spent 2 years abroad in Europe, making appearances for Charlton Athletics’ u21 side as well as their first team, debuting in a 3-0 win against Gillingham FC back in 2022.
At an international level, he represented the u20 Australian National team in late 2022 in matches against the likes of Morrocco, Chile and England.
Speaking on signing with the club, Dench said, “I’m proud to have signed for the Roar for the 25/26 season. It’s exciting to join the club during what is a new era here.
“I’ve worked extremely hard to get myself here and it’s because of this that I’m driven to give my all for the shirt and make the fans proud this season.”
Head Coach Michael Valkanis said, “Matthew has been fantastic throughout his trial period with the club and it’s because of this that we are happy to have him on board this season.
“He is an athletic, left-footed player who has to ability to pick a good pass and be impactful at both ends of the field.
“I look forward to watching him progress throughout the season.”
