Brisbane Roar has welcomed Luciano Trani to the club-s coaching staff as Assistant Coach.
Trani joins Head Coach Mike Mulvey, Conditioning Coach Ken Stead, National Youth League Coach Jeff Hopkins and Goalkeeping Coach Jason Kearton in the Roar-s football department.
“I-d like to thank Brisbane for giving me the opportunity to come back to the A-League,” Trani said.
“Since I-ve been here, I-ve found it exciting being at a club that has a certain philosophy and structures.
“I-m really looking forward to working with Mike and the rest of the coaching staff.”
Melbourne-born Trani has coached at fellow Hyundai A-League clubs Wellington Phoenix and Adelaide United as well as with teams in the old National Soccer League (NSL).
He has also previously served as a coaching instructor with Football Federation Victoria.
“The advantages of being in the game for long enough are that you can draw on all those experiences and I can add that to what we-re doing here in Brisbane,” he said.
“That-s the benefit of working with clubs before at this level and I-ll be looking at things I can add that might be of benefit to the team and coaching staff.”
The appointment marks Trani-s second stint in the Queensland capital, having also coached under former Roar stalwart Stuart McLaren at Brisbane Strikers almost a decade ago.
“This time ten years ago, I was given an opportunity to be part of Brisbane Strikers and I can thank the late Dr Clem Jones for that initial chance to come to Queensland,” he said.
“I still have fond memories of my time here and it-s been great bumping into some familiar faces.”
Brisbane-s pre-season campaign is in full swing with the Roar beating Brisbane Strikers 11-0 last night.
The next pre-season match is against Brisbane Premier League side Wynnum Wolves at Carmichael Park, Tingalpa next Tuesday night at 7pm.
