Brisbane Roar’s Westfield Matildas’ tally has risen to six with fan favourite Hayley Raso locked in for the Westfield W-League 2019/20 season.
The homegrown talent returns to Brisbane for a third consecutive Westfield W-League season in Roar orange, looking to add to the 39 appearances & 12 goals for the Club to date.
The electrifying winger, who has established herself as one of the most exciting talents in Australia, is stoked to be back home for another tilt at the Westfield W-League title.
“I’m really excited to be back. I obviously love playing for Brisbane Roar, it’s my home state, all my family and friends are here and there’s nowhere I’d rather be,” Raso said.
After a difficult 2018, marred by a serious back injury which curtailed her 2018-19 preparations, the 25-year-old says she’s looking forward to getting a full pre-season under her belt following a strong campaign in the NWSL with the Portland Thorns.
“I’m really looking forward to it,” Raso continued.
“Last year was a rough year, but it’s an exciting thought to be able to train well this pre-season, play the season out and hopefully we can do something special this year.”
The winger becomes the sixth player to have journeyed to the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup and sign on for the 2019/20 season in orange, joining BRFC players Clare Polkinghorne, Tameka Yallop & Elise Kellond-Knight, as well as the experienced Katrina Gorry & Mackenzie Arnold.
The Roar Women will ramp-up preparations this Saturday with a pre-season fixture against NPL QLD outfit Eastern Suburbs at Samford Rangers Football Club (1pm KO).
