Another Yuki Nagasato goal was the highlight of what proved to be a busy week for our Roar Women around the globe.

Starting in the US, Portland Thorns came from a goal down to defeat North Carolina Courage 2-1 on Monday morning to return to the top of the NWSL standings.

Hayley Raso came on as a half time sub for the Thorns while Celeste Boureille was absent from the Thorns matchday squad.

Yuki Nagasato scored the winner for Chicago Red Stars in their 1-0 away victory over Washington Spirit on Sunday.

Nagasato’s second half header secured all three points as the Red Stars who have now won five matches on the bounce climbed to second on the league table.

Nagasato’s goal takes her tally to five for the campaign while Mackenzie Arnold was an unused substitute for the Red Stars.

Clare Polkinghorne marked her return to the side for Houston Dash with a clean sheet as the Dash triumphed 1-0 over Orlando Pride on Sunday.

Carson Pickett and Chioma Ubogagu both started for the Pride who finished with nine players after Marta and Julie King were both sent off in Sunday’s match.

Nagasato’s Red Stars are back in action on Wednesday when they travel to Sky Blue FC while Orland Pride and Portland Thorns take on Utah Royals and Washington Spirit respectively next weekend.

Back at home some of our Roar Women went head-to-head in NPLW action as Moreton Bay defeated Capalaba 3-0 at Wolter Park on Monday night.

Natalie Tathem played a full match as the Jets defence kept out Abbey Lloyd who played 90 minutes for the Bulldogs.

Allira Toby was a second half substitute for Moreton Bay who have now locked in second position on the NPLW ladder.

Next week sees Moreton Bay make the trip down the M1 to take on Gold Coast United while Capalaba host league leaders Lions FC.

In South Australia Jenna McCormick netted her sixth goal of the NPLWSA season for Fulham United despite her side going down 6-2 to Salisbury Inter at Valo Football Centre on Friday night.
