Brisbane Roar has been edged out in its return to Lions Stadium for the Westfield W-League 2019/20 season on Thursday night.
A maiden Westfield W-League goal for Rylee Baisden wasn’t enough as two first-half goals for the Wanderers, and a third late on saw the visitors take the points.
The Roar dominated possession in the opening stages but found themselves behind after conceding twice against the run of play.
Baisden cut the deficit in half early in the second half with her first Westfield W-League goal before Kristen Hamilton refirmed the visitors’ two-goal lead, capping off her hat-trick late on.
Head Coach Jake Goodship says the performance wasn’t to the standard expected by his side, who will look to bounce back in their first away trip to Canberra next Thursday night.
“It’s simply not good enough. We’ve got a big session on Sunday, a big week on the training pitch next week and we must pick up points away on Thursday,” Goodship said.
