Roar Women Team News & Squad Update

We have bolstered our Westfield W-League squad with some of Queensland’s finest young talents ahead of Sunday’s opening round clash against the Glory.

Young guns Anna Margraf & Indiah-Paige Riley, who were both members of the 2018 NPLW Championship-winning squad, have both earned their first professional contracts.

Moreton Bay United junior Riley, 16, was the team’s second-highest scorer throughout the title-winning season and will join 17-year-old Gold Coast City FC product & BRFC/NTC teammate Margraf in Mel Andreatta’s squad for Season 11.

Short term contracts have also been handed to young goalkeepers Elli Chapple & Kezia Pritchard. New recruit & Young Matildas keeper Annie Grove is unavailable for Sunday’s clash through international duty.

Head Coach Mel Andreatta has also provided an update on Hayley Raso’s recovery after the dangerous attacker suffered a severe back injury playing in the NWSL.

“Hayley’s being a real professional about it. The National Team staff, as well as ours, are working very closely together to give her the best return-to-play program possible.

“She’s going above and beyond to make sure she’s available and she’s being a positive influence around the group. You’ll see her this season and it might be sooner than you think.”
