Sam Klein named in Young Socceroos Four Continents Tournament squad

Brisbane Roar youngster Sam Klein has been included in Young Socceroos’ Head Coach Trevor Morgan’s 24-player squad to represent Australia at the upcoming four continents U-20 Costa Cálida Supercup in Spain.

The Young Socceroos will face Chile, England, and Morocco from 21-27 September, giving some of the country’s best-emerging players the chance to pit themselves against elite international opposition.

Klein became Roar’s eighth youngest debutant in A-League Men history when he came on as an 87th-minute substitute against Adelaide United last season.

Speaking on the squad and the tournament itself, Trevor Morgan said with the pandemic halting international competitions for Australia’s youth national teams, the participation in the Costa Cálida Supercup for the Young Socceroos will continue to support the development of young footballers.

“We have a highly talented crop of footballers in this group, who play either locally or in leagues around the world and selecting a squad for this tournament created a welcomed headache,” he said.

“To be able to play world-class opposition from three confederations in Morocco, Chile and reigning under-19 European Champions – England, within the space of eight days presents an ideal learning experience for this squad as we prepare for future tournaments and develop the next generation of Olyroos and Socceroos,” Morgan concluded.

All matches of the U-20 Costa Cálida Supercup will be streamed through the Pinatar Arena YouTube channel.
