Silkowitz: We’re really pumped to be back home

Brisbane Roar goalkeeper, Jordan Silkowitz says the squad looks forward to being back home in front of Brisbane fans this Sunday as they work towards Round 8 of the Liberty A-League.

Since transferring from Kansas City Current in October, Silkowitz has been settling into Australia well while also being spectacular in goals for Roar, earning herself the starting spot.

“It’s been really enjoyable, everyone’s been super welcoming, and it’s been great to be here,” Silkowitz said.

The 23-year-old is raring to go for the Roar’s Round 8 clash this Sunday, in an opportunity to secure three points against a well-matched Western Sydney side after a disappointing 5-1 defeat in the capital.

“We’re really pumped to be back home, and back in front of Brisbane fans. Obviously last week wasn’t the result we were looking for. we were super well-prepared by our coaches and staff but ultimately, we just didn’t quite execute so we’re looking forward to turning the page and getting after Western Sydney,” she said.

The American is anticipating a good challenge from the visitors after coming off the back of two wins, but a productive training week for Brisbane has them feeling set.

“They’re coming off a two-game winning streak, so we know they’re going to be ready for this one. We’ve had a great week of training, well-prepared from staff, we have everything we need to be successful so we’re looking forward to being out on the pitch.”
