Brisbane Roar can confirm Shane Stefanutto will remain at the club until the end of the Hyundai A-League 2014/15 season with the experienced defender signing another one-year contract extension.

Stefanutto, who turns 34 on Sunday, has been one of the most consistent performers for the club since joining almost four years ago in April 2010 and is also a widely respected member of the squad-s leadership group.

Following a stint on the sidelines with a hamstring injury, the Cairns-born player is set to return to the Roar squad to face Adelaide United tomorrow night to celebrate his new contract extension.

“It was an easy decision to make,” Stefanutto said.

“I-m still very motivated to work hard. I love this club and it-s exciting to be a part of the culture we-re continuing to build here.

“I know I have a lot more to give in the Brisbane Roar jersey and I can-t wait to get back onto the field tomorrow night at Suncorp Stadium.”

Brisbane Roar Football Director Ken Stead said it was fantastic news for the club.

“Shane is the ultimate professional, his fitness within our high-pressing game is top class and he has an incredible work rate to match,” he said.

“To have him commit to one more year with the Roar only strengthens our squad and we look forward to seeing him run up and down the sideline delivering those quality crosses for another season.”

Stefanutto-s re-signing comes just a day after Dimitri Petratos pledged his future to the Roar in what has been a strong start to 2014 for the club, on and off the pitch.
