STRIKER BONNIE DAVIES JOINS ROAR

Brisbane Roar is delighted to announce the signing of striker Bonnie Davies for the 2023/24 Liberty A-League season.

Davies joins the club from the Newcastle Jets, who she signed with in October.

The 23-year-old returns to the Sunshine State after spending the 2023 Queensland NPL season with Peninsula Power FC, where she scored 26 goals in 25 matches.

Davies joins the club after previously playing with South Hobart and Olympia FC Warriors in Tasmania, and Heidelberg in Victoria.

Davies is delighted to be back in the Sunshine State and looks forward to working with Head Coach Alex Smith after briefly training with him at Peninsula Power FC.

“I’m excited, I’ve always wanted to play for the Roar considering I was living up here and I love Brisbane. To play for Roar has always been a dream for me,” Davies said.

“I’m really excited to work under Alex, because he was the one that got me up to Brisbane and got me opportunities with [Melbourne] City when he was Assistant Coach there. I’ve only worked under him for two weeks and I loved it, so I just want to get working with him again!”

She reflected upon her time in the NPL QLD and her excitement to reunite with some familiar faces from the competition.

“The experience was really good, just to play against teams that were really good every week and always getting challenged, compared to Tassie where there was two to three competitive games every couple of weeks,” Davies said.

“I’m really keen to get back into it and see everyone that I met a couple of months ago and be back at my second home,” she added.

“I want to gain as much experience as I can and just develop my game further, and probably gain confidence and learn as much as I can from everyone.”

Davies will be available for selection in tomorrow’s Round 8 home clash against Western Sydney Wanderers.
