Brisbane Roar will host three Hyundai A-League–Westfield W-League double headers in the upcoming season, as revealed in today’s Westfield W-League 2014 draw.
Both the Roar’s Hyundai A-League and Westfield W-League team will play at Suncorp Stadium on Sunday, 12 October, Saturday, 8 November and Saturday, 29 November in a massive boost for the club’s members and fans.
Brisbane Roar Head Coach Belinda Wilson, who guided her side to the Grand Final in the 2013/14 season, welcomed the draw and the inclusion of the three double headers at Suncorp Stadium.
“We’re really excited about the matches at Suncorp Stadium, especially after we got a taste of it last season with one match there,” she said.
“It’s a fantastic opportunity for the team to play in one of the best stadiums in Australia.
“We’re also looking forward to welcoming Sydney FC to Brisbane for our first home match, played at QSAC.
“Those matches always have a state of origin feel of them and it’s a great way to kick off the season.”
With the season kicking off earlier than usual this year due to Australia hosting the AFC Asian Cup, the opening round is set for 13/14 September with the Grand Final scheduled for Sunday, 21 December.
Confirmation of the squad and details on Brisbane Roar W-League memberships will be revealed closer to the start of the season.
