Brisbane Roar’s undefeated streak has come to an end with a 2-1 loss to Perth Glory at Macedonia Park on Tuesday night.
With the hosts leading at the break, thanks to a Darryl Lachman tap-in, the Roar hit back just 11 minutes into the second half.
Carlo Armiento’s cross found the head of Connor Chapman who brought the scores level.
It was Chapman’s first goal in Roar colours, and just his second in the Isuzu UTE A-League competition.
However, the scores didn’t remain level for long with Mustafa Amini’s shot from the edge of the box deflected in by Scott Neville at the near post just four minutes later.
Things didn’t get much easier for Roar as Jay O’Shea was given his marching orders after a second yellow card – his first came off camera in the 36th minute.
The Roar continued to press for an equaliser as the second half drew on and showed a lot of resilience to push until the very end.
Speaking after the match, Neville said the side still had a ‘crack’ despite the short turnaround from Friday’s win.
“We did well for the first 15 minutes then they put us under pressure than in the second half we got back into the game,” he said.
“Going down to 10 men is tough, and we were chasing the game…we will just need to go back to the drawing board.
“We showed a bit of resilience there to almost nick a point at the end.”
The Roar will return to Kayo Stadium on Saturday 14 January to face Wellington Phoenix.
