Dylan Wenzel-Halls’ sparkling goal to round out a 3-1 win against Melbourne Victory on January 2 saw the Roar become just the third side in A-League history to rack up 600 goals in the competition.
Only the Victory and Sydney FC have chalked up more goals since the league’s inception in 2005. We take a look back at our previous milestone strikes, dating back to our 100th goal way back in 2008.
100th goal: Sergio van Dijk, December 6, 2008
An early strike against the Mariners in Gosford saw our A-League goal tally hit triple figures halfway through our third campaign. It was the Dutchman’s first goal for the Club that hadn’t come from the penalty spot & he would go on to score 40 in three seasons in Brisbane orange.
200th goal: Thomas Broich, January 12, 2011
It wouldn’t be appropriate to not have him featured on this list would it? Arguably the A-League’s greatest ever player netted our 200th A-League goal almost 10 years ago to the day. The milestone came once again against the Mariners as the German maestro levelled proceedings at 2-2 halfway through the second half in a contest that finished 3-3.
300th goal: Besart Berisha, February 17, 2013
The Albanian was sure to work his way on to this list with a record that still stands as the greatest scorer in Brisbane Roar history.
For the first time, we hit a milestone against an opposition other than the Mariners with this striker coming in a 2-0 victory at Suncorp Stadium against the Nix.
An intercept in midfield from Luke Brattan launched the Roar on to the attack, before Berisha finished as calmly as ever into the bottom right corner to double the lead.
400th goal: Daniel Bowles, October 8, 2015
An unlikely candidate was on hand for our 400th goal on the opening day of the 2015/16 campaign.
After Jamie Maclaren opened the scoring at Parramatta Stadium, a thumping header from Daniel Bowles restored our lead on 23 minutes – the Roar would go on to record a 3-1 victory.
The header was Bowles’ sole A-League goal for Brisbane Roar.
500th goal: Massimo Maccarone, October 28, 2017
A more likely name took centre stage for our 500th A-League goal in remarkable circumstances in Wellington.
Trailing 3-0 after just 20 minutes against the Nix, Massimo Maccarone popped up in the right place at the right time, thumping home a confidence-boosting goal for the Roar from close on the cusp of half-time.

Maccarone would go on to also score our 502nd goal late in the second half as we came from three goals down to leave New Zealand with a point.
600th goal: Dylan Wenzel-Halls, January 2, 2021
Making the most of a route-one ball from captain Tom Aldred, Dylan Wenzel-Halls did his best to bypass two Melbourne Victory defenders before stabbing home from close range to seal a season-first win at AAMI Park.
The goal was Wenzel-Halls’ eighth in his young career, earning the Roar a rare win on the road against the Victory.
