Brisbane Roar are locked in to face Newcastle Jets in the Round of 32 of Australia Cup on Monday 14 August at Maitland Sportsground after the Jets defeated Melbourne Victory in penalties on Monday night.
Roar will travel south determined for a win against Jets to kick off their Australia Cup journey with a bang.
In their last meeting, Roar defeated Newcastle 3-0 at Kayo Stadium in April. Head Coach Ross Aloisi is looking forward to kicking off the Australia Cup with a clash against Newcastle, for a chance to go all the way but to also prepare for the upcoming season.
“Robbie Stanton at Newcastle has his own playing style so that will be something new for us to contend with,” Aloisi said.
“It’s the Australia cup, we want to win everything, but it’s also about building for this coming A-League season,” he added.
