Brisbane Roar is delighted to announce the signing of defender Tom Aldred ahead of the Hyundai A-League 2019/20 season.
Aldred is new Head Coach Robbie Fowler’s second signing after the Club confirmed the acquisition of Irish striker Roy O’Donovan yesterday afternoon.
The experienced central defender can’t wait to get started ahead of what will be his maiden Hyundai A-League campaign.
“I’m buzzing about getting started at Brisbane Roar, it’s a massive opportunity for me,” Aldred said.
“I’ve always kept an eye on overseas leagues and it’s been an ambition of mine to play abroad one day.”
Aldred arrives at the Roar after plying his trade at various clubs across the United Kingdom including Blackpool, Accrington Stanley and most recently Motherwell in the Scottish Premier League.
The versatile 28-year-old joined Motherwell in 2017 on loan from Bury, going on to make 62 appearances for the Scottish side, scoring four times.
The defender says the ambition of his new Head Coach was something that enticed him to sign on in Brisbane orange.
“I met with [new Head Coach] Robbie [Fowler] and he put in light what is trying to do and it was something that really attracted me.
“It’s a very competitive league that has featured some quality players and it’s one that I’m really looking forward to testing myself in.”
Brisbane Roar FC also wishes to advise that the Club has agreed with Nick D’Agostino and Dane Ingham to mutually terminate their contracts with BRFC, effective immediately.
The Club would like to thank Nick and Dane for their dedication and contribution to Brisbane Roar and wish them all the best for the future.
