Young Roar midfielder Bryce Bafford has praised the unity of his side ahead of Tuesday’s NPL Queensland clash against Moreton Bay at the Logan Football Complex (7:30pm KO).

The side sit in sixth position just two points outside the competition’s top four following three wins & a draw from the opening six rounds.

Bafford, who was part of the Young Roar Foxtel Y-League Championship-winning team puts his sides strong start down to the unity of the Young Roar team.

“We’ve had a bit of different personnel at times this year but it shows the depth that we have in the youth players at the Club, it’s a very united group at the moment,” Bafford said.

“We’re really showing at the moment that even though we’re younger, we’re matching more senior opponents technically and physically, we’re frustrating them and providing real challenges for them each week.”

Bafford is one of many Young Roar stars who have had the opportunity to train with the Club’s Hyundai A-League side & the 17-year old says that experience is proving invaluable for both himself & his teammates.

“It’s been really good, the intensity & quality is really high so all I can do is learn every day and make the most of it,” Bafford continued.

“We all want to play at the next level, that’s why we’re here, so it’s been really good.”

Bafford, who has three goals to his name this season, including a brilliant brace in his side’s last outing against Gold Coast United, says the team are looking to build on recent performances in Tuesday’s clash against the Jets.

“I was happy with the goals and my performance individually. Looking back at the game there’s a few things we could work on as a team, myself included, but there are a lot of positives to take out of it,” Bafford added.

“We’ve played some decent sides lately and learned lessons from those matches.”

“Moreton Bay usually provide a unique challenge playing with five or three at the back so it will be a good experience for us to play against a different style.”

“We’re looking forward to the game, it should be another good test for us.”
